Being a photographer in Monterey, and as someone who always moves due to the military, I have met some incredible couples. There are couples who have become some close friends well after I got them in front of my camera. There are also PLENTY of couples, like Jasper and Jennifer, that remind me that I have the coolest “job” ever. Their Engagement Session at Palm Beach State Park in California was one that I will never forget!. The second we got out of our cars, Jennifer squealed with excitement and Jasper was quick to follow that vibe. From this moment on, I knew this was going to be one heck of a fun session!
My name is dana and I am a photographer in California who loves to serve couples who value photography. For me, I welcome all couples, no matter the religion, their ethnicity, or their beliefs. I love meeting people who love to serve and care for others. The couples who love food, traveling, or Netflix and chill! This couple here was just that, so I am so excited to share more!
We started off with some classic shots! Jasper hugging her from behind, some sweet nose snuggles, and of course, some casual posing for some cute and relaxing shots. I always try to focus on starting “simple” to get them warmed up in front of the camera!
Engagement Session at Palm Beach State Park in California
The dip pose; I do not get to do this often. However, for this session I was, and Jennifer was wearing the perfect outfit for it. A tip when doing this pose, make sure her leg that is not facing the camera, is the one that gets lifted! This way, you are less likely to see underwear. Jasper did a great job keeping her safe by holding her up!
Out of this whole session, I think my favorite part was just getting to hang out with them. I felt like I have known Jennifer and Jasper for years and we instantly clicked the second we started to chat! They are fun, relatable, and had me laughing the whole time we were together. There were so many great moments, some not appropriate to share, but if you ask me, they are exactly my type of people I would want to be stranded on an island with.
Champagne Pop!
This has got to be one of my favorite parts from an engagement session! The champagne pop! Every time I have the guys do this, they always get excited because they have never done this before. Some simple tips to make this as epic as possible…
- Shake it up before you open it
- If you are facing the camera, tip the bottle to the left of the camera so you can get some good angles!
- Keep your facial expressions natural, yet exciting! Smile, laugh, and be thrilled you just had a super fun champagne pop!
