Eastern Virginia has many gorgeous spots for photography. From Hampton Roads to Virginia Beach, here are my favorite spots for portrait photography at any time of the year!

Historic Jamestown, Virginia

If you thought of Pocahontas and John Smith, then you are exactly where you think this is. This small town is full of history and gorgeous historic scenery. You have a few options here with the location being near town and next to the river!

CNU (Christopher Newport University), Hampton VA

My sweet friend Ashley told me about this place, and I had no idea we can shoot at a university. I love CNU because there is a beautiful courtyard that has beautiful buildings with large white steps, trees, and a bell tower. You can stay in one general spot and get several backdrops.

Fort Monroe National Historic Site, Hampton Roads, VA

This is my favorite location, for many reasons! You have access to a beach, a large courtyard with a white gazebo, walkways with beautiful trees and houses, and of course, there are even a few spots where you can see the whole fort/water as far as the Naval Base if you do some hiking! I can shoot here at nearly any time of day and still get incredible work out of it. But, sunset is my absolute favorite!

Ocean View Beach Park, Norfolk VA

If you are looking for a quiet beach away from the crowd, this beach in Norfolk is the one to go to. I love the colors at sunrise (truly incredible) and the sunset gives you warm skin tones. You have the option of using the beach and a paved sidewalk surrounded by pretty trees and homes in the distance!

Virginia Beach, VA

This is a perfect area for those who are vacationing and want to stay close to their hotel. All throughout the boardwalk, you have walkways in between with trees, large white hotels, and the beach is right on scene. There are also small parks around the area that are much more quieter and safer for families with small children. This way, the family is also walking distance from their hotels and can get to a restaurant in just a few minutes!
